At the heart of ReflexDAO’s model are wearable sensors designed to collect precise autonomic nervous system (ANS) metrics, such as heart rate variability (HRV) and interbeat intervals, in real-world conditions.
Autonomic nervous system (ANS) reflexes play a critical role in regulating involuntary functions like heart rate, blood pressure, and stress responses. Despite the importance of ANS functions, the field of autonomic reflex characterization remains under-explored.
Through patient-driven research efforts, a greater understanding of ANS will enhance our ability to predict, prevent, and manage common chronic conditions. While traditional research models face challenges like siloed data, limited collaboration, and lack of real-world insights, a thorough assessment of ANS reflex function can be achieved remotely via a careful analysis of RR interval-based rhythms during periods of ANS challenge.
ReflexDAO revolutionizes the ANS space with a decentralized approach. By leveraging blockchain, AI, and privacy preserving data-sharing, we empower individuals and researchers to leverage high-resolution autonomic data to develop novel health solutions and shift healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive wellness, centered on understanding and optimizing autonomic health. ReflexDAO’s platform enables collaboration across communities, breaking down barriers in healthcare and transforming autonomic reflex health into an actionable science for personalized, preventative care.

Via autonomic nervous system (ANS) coupling reflexes, the breathing disruption that occurs during obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) episodes causes dramatic changes in RR interval (heart rhythms) known as cyclic variation of heart rate (CVHR). Apnea causes gradual HR drop while recovering hyperventialtion causes HR spike. These cyclic heart rate episodes or cyclic RRI can be detected and quantified.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia. Left untreated AF can lead to stroke and death. The earlier AF can be detected the better as early treatment reduces the risk of adverse events. The problem is that early or paroxysmal AF is mostly asymptomatic. The heart rhythms of high risk individuals can be monitored for AF using modern wearable devices.
The SARS-Cov2 virus can cause both acute and chronic infection affecting multiple organs and physiological systems. Long Covid often causes a disruption of normal autonomic nervous system function. Sympathetic overactivation and POTS are two ANS disturbances that can be assessed remotely through the analysis of heart rhythms.

Data is the core asset in ReflexDAO's value capture model. Smart contracts connect contributors with benefits from data-access agreements, sponsored research, and collaborations.
The model flows through four stages: (1) Users share data via tasks, (2) This enables biomarker generation and trial setup, (3) Biomarkers create actionable scientific reports, (4) Users receive personalized health products and feedback through subscriptions.
Revenue sources include: wearable devices and health tools supporting data collection; intellectual property (algorithms, predictive models) monetized through smart contract licensing with healthcare providers; and automated data-access agreements maintaining user ownership.
Smart contracts distribute revenue to incentivize contributors and ecosystem development. This creates a self-sustaining cycle where participation fuels research, generating products and insights that attract more users and data.
