Albuminuria/Proteinuria is a key factor in CKD, occurring when kidney filtration is damaged, allowing proteins like albumin to leak into urine. KLF15 is a promising therapeutic target for proteinuric kidney diseases, effectively suppressing pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic pathways, including TGF-β, a major contributor to kidney damage. Additionally, it modulates glucose and lipid metabolism in kidney cells, protecting against metabolic stress-induced injury. Thus, agents that enhance KLF15 expression or mimic its function could be potential therapies for proteinuria.
Current Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) devices are extremely expensive, and it is necessary to integrate this technology within smartphone applications for wider adoption.
